Stimulating Sparks Through Student Storytelling

This project highlights the student activisms of #NotagainSU, a rhetorical analysis of their movement, and a musical celebration of this student movement.

The project is to be viewed in this order: 1)Homepage, 2) About, 3) Timeline, 4) Rhetorical Moves, and 5) Remix.  A full project overview is available here to further explain the theories behind this project; my decision making process; and the relationship between spark zones, erotic energy, signifying, and rhetorical reclamation.

Trigger Warning

This website includes images of racist, antisemetic, and xenophobic imagery. This website also includes images and media of police violence against unarmed student protests.

When looking specifically at the student activists of #NotAgainSU, one can see Syracuse students using social media and in-person protest to “witness and testify” against the unjust treatment of students of color who had experienced racist or discriminatory acts on campus. I firmly believe that similar to how “witnessing and testifying” was integral to civil rights and social justice in America that the key(s) to understand (de/re)constructing the academy lies within the stories or testimonies of student perceptions on their education, specifically Black students and students of color perceptions on inclusivity, culture, and campus protocols.
